New Kinnikuman Gashapon figures

The Japanese line of Kinnikuman  has enjoyed a new lease of life with the introduction of new sculpts in sets of eight figures via Gashapon vending capsules.The first set released by Bandai almost a year ago and now we are on set six !
These two are Big the Budo and Neptune man from set two. They come in Flesh colour, or pale orange as it is now termed,  and red and blue. Each set also has one figure which has a factory paint application applied.

Monster in My Pocket series 6 Dinosaurs

The sixth series of this range from Matchbox was a total of x24 Dinosaur figures, numbered from #145 to #168. Moulded in hard plastic in a range of neon colours with splashes of painted bits here and there.
Again looking past the somewhat off- putting colours the sculpted detail is very good and they seem to be reasonably accurate depictions of the dinosaurs they represent.
I've had a number of these figures for some years so its about time I painted some up.

Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Ankylosaurus, Apotosaurus and Stegasuarus.

Eraser Dictator

Couldn't resist getting this and giving him a paint job. Apparently there is a Donald Trump version coming soon. Approx 3 inches high in solid red rubber, distributed by Gift Republic in the UK.

"Aliens" Muscle figures.

Having just acquired the “Aliens” muscle set from Super7 I thought I’d start by painting up the two largest pieces, being the Queen Alien and Ripley in the P-5000 Powerloader. Having spent some hours painting them I thought I’d give you my review of this set.

As with the first set of the “Alien” figures released last year they appear to be by the same sculptor. The details are a little soft and I guess may have lost some sharpness from the original masters during the manufacturing process. Big up to them though for taking on the Powerloader, this cannot have been an easy sculpt to process (and paint!) without resulting in the usual ‘blocking’ one sees where a number of gaps appear betwixt body lines and other detail.

In my view, given a quick look, the detail does not jump out of this set in its raw form, in perhaps the same way as their MOTU range. From my painting perspective it is all the more important to obtain a fair likeness to the characters they portray. The Alien Queen is overall a nice piece and is justifiably a larger figure than the other Aliens in the set. I have another batch from this set currently in my painting process, pictures of which I will post in due course.

Finally I would like to thank my mate Seth over the pond for assisting me in obtaining this set. We here in the UK can’t easily (or cheaply) obtain all these American manufactured goodies.

Monster Wrestlers in my pocket

A series of some 42 different figures made in the main by Matchbox in the UK. However nine of them were made by Vivid Imaginations and made available as cereal premiums with Kellogg's Frosties in 1995. Similar in size to a 54mm figure with a fairly crude factory paint application. Each figure has its own code and name. I really like the sculpts and so painted a few up.
